TORONTO, ON - Jun 16 2010 - For the last 20 years the Halton District School Board and Professional Student Services Personnel members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) have struggled to find a solution that recognizes the Pay Equity Act of 1990. These four groups of employees; Child and Youth Counsellors, Speech-Language Pathologists, Social Workers and Psychoeducational Consultants, have patiently waited for the process to reach a conclusion. After 20 years it’s time to ensure equity for everyone.
Unfortunately, on December 19, 2009, an impasse was reached between both parties.
An information rally will be held at 5:30 P.M. at the Halton District School Board Office located at 2050 Guelph Line, Burlington, on June 16, 2010. Information regarding the current impasse will be distributed at the Board meeting which also urges the Board to return to the table in order to find a solution.
Attached is a copy of the pamphlet that will be distributed at the rally.
OSSTF/FEESO, founded in 1919, has 60,000 members across Ontario. They include public high school teachers, occasional teachers, educational assistants, continuing education teachers and instructors, psychologists, secretaries, speech-language pathologists, social workers, plant support personnel, attendance counsellors, and many others in education.
