OSSTF/FEESO is strongly committed to supporting and promoting awards to recognize outstanding contributions by members to the OSSTF/FEESO. These awards recognize significant contributions to public education. Further information and, if applicable, application forms, can be accessed on each individual page.

linkOntario Teachers’ Insurance Plan (OTIP) Teaching Award

This award recognizes the vital contribution that teachers make to society. Awards are given each year to outstanding teachers in the categories of elementary, secondary, and beginning teacher.

OTF Special Recognition Award Nominations

The OTF Special Recognition Award, established in 2020, is presented annually to an organization, group, or individual in acknowledgement of outstanding contributions to publicly funded education in Ontario, beyond the school board level.

This award recognizes and acknowledges the important part that educational support staff workers contribute to the education community and to student success.

These awards honour outstanding and innovative elementary and secondary school teachers in all disciplines for their remarkable educational achievements and for their commitment to preparing youth for a digital and innovation-based economy.

Canadian Teachers’ Federation Special Recognition Award

This award is presented to individuals for meritorious service to education and the teaching profession at the provincial and national levels. Submission of names for nominations should be made through your local district or bargaining unit. The deadline for considering names is due at the beginning of March annually.

Public Education Advocacy Award

This award recognizes dedicated, long-standing service, as well as major contributions to benefit publicly funded education. Submission of names for nominations should be made through your local district or bargaining unit. The deadline for considering names is due at the beginning of March annually.

Recognition of Indigenous Elder

This recognition pays tribute to the contributions of an Indigenous Elder to public education in Canada. Submission of names for nominations should be made through your local district or bargaining unit. The deadline for considering names is due at the beginning of March annually.

Recognition of Outstanding Indigenous Educator

This recognition pays tribute to a teacher who has demonstrated leadership in Indigenous education and excellence in teaching that reflects Indigenous culture. Submission of names for nominations should be made through your local district or bargaining unit. The deadline for considering names is due at the beginning of March annually.
