Message to members from the OSSTF/FEESO Provincial Executive

TORONTO, ON – September 10, 2021 — To the members of OSSTF/FEESO

The past year has been one of unprecedented challenges for us all, and your OSSTF/FEESO Provincial Executive thanks every one of our 60,000 plus members for the work you do for our students and for publicly-funded education in Ontario. It is because of your dedication and your strength that we have been able to give students from kindergarten through to post-secondary the supports they so desperately needed during the pandemic.

As we move through a second September start up under COVID-19 restrictions and protocols, we know there are heightened anxieties and concerns about the safe return. We are not only worried about our students’ and our own well-being, but also the safety of our loved ones and our communities. OSSTF/FEESO continues to call on the provincial government to implement robust vaccination, ventilation, masking, distancing, and testing measures as the most important aspects of the safe return to in-person learning.

While the next few months will be difficult, you can be strengthened by the united resolve of the membership to meet the challenges ahead of us and by the commitment of your Provincial Executive to advocate for the best possible working and learning conditions. Your union is here for you. You are encouraged to reach out to your local leaders with any needs or concerns you may have as the year progresses. Ontario’s post-COVID rebuilding will be powered by our efforts and by the strength of our solidarity. We know that investing in publicly-funded education and in its workforce will fuel the rebuilding of the province.

Thank you all for your dedication and commitment to education and to students in Ontario.
