October 23–24, 2026
The Bargaining Unit Equity, Anti-Racism, and Anti-Oppression Officer (EARAOO) Triennial Conference will be taking place on October 23-24, 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Toronto - North York (900 York Mills Road, North York, ON M3B 3H2).
Under the theme “Stronger Together: Building Intersectional Power,” the conference will explore how EARAOOs can strengthen member engagement, build collective capacity, and advance equity, anti-racism, and anti-oppression within their locals, workplaces, and communities.
The conference will feature a keynote address by Larry Rousseau, whose leadership and advocacy have helped advance equity, human rights, and social justice within the labour movement. In addition to the keynote address, the conference will feature a panel and workshops that will equip participants with the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to lead meaningful equity initiatives and respond effectively to the issues facing members today. Throughout the conference, participants will have opportunities to deepen their understanding of intersectionality, share promising practices, and build networks of support that strengthen the collective work of EARAOOs across the Federation.
Bargaining Units are strongly encouraged to send their locally appointed, designated, or elected EARAOO to this conference. This conference is specifically designed for individuals serving in these roles and is not intended as a general-interest professional learning opportunity.
Provincial Office will cover the costs of one (1) member per Bargaining Unit to attend this conference. In the event that the local EARAOO is not available to attend, Bargaining Units may send an alternate in their place whose costs will be covered by Provincial Office. All participants MUST be approved by their Bargaining Unit president prior to registering.
Please note that there may be a small number of additional space available for OSSTF/FEESO Members who are doing equity, anti-racism, and anti-oppression work in their local who may wish to attend the conference, in addition to the designated delegate. These individuals should send an email to Rochelle.Wijesingha@osstf.ca and Andrea.DelMedico@osstf.ca requesting to attend the Conference. Requests will be received up until September 18, 2026. Approval for any additional delegates to attend will be communicated by September 29, 2026. Any available spaces for additional delegates will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Any extra delegates approved to attend the conference will have all costs (i.e. hotel accommodation, release time, travel, etc.) billed to the Bargaining Unit. Fees to cover the event costs to participate include the cost of materials, hotel accommodation, meals, reception, and parking fees.
